Indian Mound Reserve

Miamisburg Mound
The largest conical burial mound in Ohio: 65 feet tall and 800 feet in circumference, built by the Adena people over 2,000 years ago. A short hike to the top gives sweeping views of the Miami River valley. Quiet, free, and surprisingly impressive.
Charleston Falls Preserve
A stunning natural preserve just north of Dayton with a beautiful waterfall, limestone gorges, and miles of hiking trails. The main falls are about a half mile in from the parking area and completely worth the walk. One of those places that surprises people the first time they see it.
Sugarcreek MetroPark
A 618-acre Five Rivers MetroParks nature preserve with tallgrass prairie, woodlands and the scenic Sugar Creek. Its famous Three Sisters white oaks are over 550 years old, and trails welcome hikers, horseback riders and picnickers.
Twin Creek MetroPark (Carlisle Fort)
A 1,000-plus-acre Five Rivers MetroPark protecting the Carlisle Fort, a Hopewell-culture hilltop earthwork built around 2,000 years ago and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Miles of hiking through forest and floodplain.
