National Museum of the U.S. Air Force · Fairborn / WPAFB
The Air Force Museum is putting on a 500-drone light show as part of America's 250th. The drones trace the history of flight across a 600-foot-wide canvas in the sky above the museum. Museum stays open until 9 PM, food trucks on the grounds, and the show starts at 10 PM with a live soundtrack on 95.3 The Eagle. Free admission and free parking. Rain date is June 27.

New Carlisle kicks off 4th of July weekend early with a full fireworks show at Haddix Field. Good option if you want to beat the crowds and still get a great fireworks display before the holiday weekend rush.

The City of Dayton's official 4th of July celebration. The street fair and festival run from noon at RiverScape with food vendors, games, and a kids zone. The fireworks launch from Kettering Field at 10 PM and are choreographed to music. This is a special year too as part of America's 250th celebration.

The night before Ohio's biggest single-day 4th of July festival opens with a fireworks show at Centerville High School Stadium. Gates open at 6 PM, fireworks at 10 PM. It sets the tone for the full Americana Festival on July 4th.

The night before Fairborn's parade, Main Street shuts down for a block party. Live music, food trucks, and a neighborhood vibe right outside of Wright-Patterson. If you are stationed at WPAFB or live close, this one is easy to get to and a lot of fun.

Xenia's July 3rd fireworks show is one of the better-kept secrets close to WPAFB. The Kevin Sonnycalb Memorial Fireworks Festival starts with community activities at 5 PM and builds to a fireworks show at 10 PM. Easy to get to from the base and typically a lot less traffic than the bigger suburban events.

Ohio's largest single-day 4th of July celebration. The parade starts at 10 AM on E. Franklin Street and heads into Uptown Centerville. After the parade the street fair opens with arts and crafts vendors, an auto show, live entertainment, and plenty of food. Over 85,000 people come out every year.

An all-day 4th of July celebration in Huber Heights with a little of everything. Parade at 10 AM along Chambersburg Road, then the festival at Thomas Cloud Park runs until 8 PM with food trucks, bands, a petting zoo, kids zone, and a beer garden. Fireworks cap the night at 10 PM. One of the best all-day setups in the region.

Right next to Wright-Patterson, Fairborn's parade has always had strong military energy. Starts at 10 AM on Broad Street, heads down Central Avenue, and ends at the corner of Main and Broad. Followed by a festival at Community Park in the afternoon with fireworks at 10 PM.

Yellow Springs does the 4th its own way. The parade lineup starts at 11 AM with the march kicking off at noon, heading north on Route 68 toward downtown. The evening celebration at Gaunt Park opens at 6 PM with food trucks, live music from the Community Band, and fireworks at dark.

Kettering's Go 4th! is one of the best-organized fireworks events in the area. DJ music, bounce houses for kids (6 to 9 PM), roaming performers, food trucks, and the fireworks show runs 10 to 10:30 PM choreographed to music. Bring lawn chairs and a blanket. Rain or shine.

Springboro's Boro BOOM! is a straightforward, well-run 4th of July event. Bounce houses, kids activities, and food trucks from 6 PM with live music from Reel 2 Real. Fireworks at 10 PM. If you live in the south suburbs, this is your closest option.

Englewood is right in northern Montgomery County and their 4th of July fireworks at Centennial Park are a solid local option. Usually less crowded than the bigger suburban shows and a shorter drive if you're coming from the north side of Dayton.

Moraine puts on their own 4th of July fireworks show at Wax Park on the south side of Dayton. If you're in that part of town or just want to skip the I-675 traffic heading to Kettering or Beavercreek, this is worth knowing about.

Kyle Park · Tipp City
Tipp City is one of the underrated small towns just north of Dayton and their 4th of July does it right. Four hours of local food trucks and live music at Kyle Park starting at 6 PM, with fireworks to close it out at 10. Good food truck variety and a small-town vibe.

Great Miami River, Adams to Market Street · Troy
Troy has one of the nicest 4th of July settings in the whole region. The fireworks launch from the banks of the Great Miami River and the whole stretch of downtown between Adams and Market Street fills up with people. About 25 minutes north of Dayton and way more manageable than the bigger city shows.
