Ohio's largest Cars and Coffee rolls every Saturday morning. Hundreds of exotics, classics, muscle cars, and tuner builds line the parking lot. Free to attend, free to park. Show up early to see them all roll in before 9 AM, then grab breakfast at one of the restaurants on site. Laid back, no judging, just locals who love cars.

Pro tip: Get there by 8 AM to catch the best arrivals. Things wind down around 11.

Started in 2020 as a community hub where everything sold is homemade or homegrown. Runs every Saturday from May through October, so Labor Day weekend falls right in the heart of peak season. Local farmers, bakers, honey, jams, fresh produce. Nonprofit groups set up too. Relaxed and family friendly.

Running since 1959, this is one of Ohio's biggest Labor Day weekend events. Free admission, free parking, and a two-day program packed with entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, food trucks, kids games, and a Labor Day Parade on Monday. The 5K and Kids Fun Run round out the weekend. Pure Dayton tradition. Tens of thousands of people come out for this one.

Pro tip: Park in the neighborhoods east of Lincoln Park and walk in. The main lot fills up fast by late morning.

The Miami Valley Antique Fire Apparatus Association brings roughly 40 pieces of antique firefighting equipment to Carillon Historical Park. Walk among restored fire trucks dating back decades, then explore the park's 35 exhibit buildings at the same time. Great for kids who like big red trucks and history buffs who appreciate craftsmanship. Admission to the park applies.

Pro tip: Combine this with a lap around the park. Carillon has so much to see you can easily spend half a day here.

One of the few real drive-in theaters left in Ohio. Two screens, double features, a full concession stand with real food. It runs all summer through fall, so Labor Day weekend is one of the last great nights to catch a movie under the stars before the season winds down. Bring blankets and lawn chairs for the car roof if the weather holds.

Pro tip: Gates open about 90 minutes before sunset. Tune your radio to the station on the sign for audio.

Labor Day weekend is one of the last stretches of real summer before Ohio flips to fall. The MetroParks system covers over 16,000 acres with trails, rivers, and open spaces. Eastwood MetroPark has great fishing and paddling. Possum Creek has mountain bike trails. RiverScape in downtown has the splash pad and river access. No crowds, no cost.

One of the most beloved small-town festivals in the Miami Valley. Typically held the second weekend of September, right after Labor Day. Popcorn vendors (obviously), arts and crafts, live entertainment, carnival rides, and a parade on Saturday morning. Free admission. Beavercreek shuts down their main stretch and it becomes a full street festival.

Pro tip: The parade Saturday morning is worth getting there early. Grab a spot on the main street by 9 AM.
